Scarlet Beans and Yellow Tomatoes

Without realizing the obvious colorist aspect of our selections, these are the scarlet runners (beans) and yellow tomatoes. We were working in the garden and had pick some vegetables, Bridget had set them on a little rolling seat that we have. As I walked by watering the flowers, I saw this little still life and went straight to the studio. This is another in the "Painting a Day Series" and can be yours for $95.00 by emailing me first at greigsart@comcast.net . Please check out my web site at www.greigleach.com .

A Wink and a Nod

This year we had wonderful success with a variety of sunflowers; large, small, and inbetween. This was one of the largest that started out looking up, tall and proud. Then like all of us, it began to stoop down with age. These were well over seven feet tall, so when I was painting this in the garden I was in fact looking up at this beautiful flower. This is another in the "Painting a Day Series" and can be yours for $95.00 by emailing me first at greigsart@comcast.net If you would like to learn more you can visit www.greigleach.com

Lone Star

This was another of the lilies sent to us by our friend Aura at the passing of my father, send as bulbs to grow and bloom every year. This is a Stargazer Lily, which is where the title comes from, I assume they grow in Texas as well. This is another in the "Painting a Day Series" and can be yours for $95.00 by emailing me first at greigsart@comcast.net . As always, thanks for looking, Greig.

Single Diagonal

This is from early days in the gladiolas, one of the first to bloom each year. It seems that this variety is spreading in the garden, what a treat! The title is self explaintory. Dad's Aura

These are lilies that where given to us when my father passed away, not as flowers in an arrangement (see It's All Arranged) but as bulbs to bloom every year to help hold him in our hearts. The giver of this wonderful idea is named Aura Hanna, thus this title. This is another in the "Painting a Day Series" and can be yours for $95.00 by emailing me first at greigsart@comcast.net. Thank you for looking and good luck. Greig Leach

Jumbled English

The title comes form the idea of the English Garden. This one is a complete jumble of colors and textures. Yesterday we found five or six Monarch butterfly catepillars climbing on the fennal next to these Shasta Daiseys. Stella!

Think Marlon Brando ripping his shirt in the rain, screaming. Come on, you remember "A Streetcar Called Desire" one of the great black and white movies. These are painted from the Stella D'Oros at our front door. Beautiful and very rewarding. Alone in the Cosmos

This is a simple composition and a simple arrangement of colors. Shades of Cold

Cold Beer! Well, cold Pale Ale, Lager and Stout! This is three of many shades of beer, thus the title. This is another in the Painting a Day Series and can be yours for $95.00 by emailing me first at greigsart@comcast.net . Thank you for taking the time to look at my art. Entangled Sweethearts

I have now completely fallen in love with roses. It is what I look at everytime I go to Lowe's, no longer the newest tools. These came fron the Great Big Greenhouse and are now blooming happily along the side of the house. The title comes from the varity of rose and the blooms being overlapped by the leaves. Or is it about the various couples that I know? This is another in the "Painting a Day Series" and can be yours for $95.00 by emailing me first at greigsart@comcast.net. Thanks for looking and good luck.

Choppy Water

The title comes from the blue fabric around the model (they often use their own robes to keep themselves clean). It reminded me of a choppy sea with the model being the figure head on a ship. I once carved a figure head out of foam for a production of Peter Pan that I designed, this reminded me of that figure (minus the sea shells covering her breasts and the fish tail). Poppy

Poppy was the name that my niece, Kelsee Rohrer, gave my father Paul Leach. Kelsee is graduating this Friday from High School and my father graduated from this life on January 25th this year. This painting was done in his honor and will be given to Kelsee for her graduation. Well done to both of you. Normally, this would be one of the "Painting a Day Series" and would be available for $95.00 by emailing me first at greigsart@comcast.net, but not this time. Divine

Puns again, this is da' vine. Sorry but my love of the Wysteria growing on the south wall of my studio in bloom is truly divine. This is the second of the paintings I was able to get done before the blossoms passed this year. I think I enjoy this plant so much because it wouldn't grow in DC where I grew up. Just a hundred miles south and this beautiful vine grows wild. Define Yourself

This work is from the model, a rare Friday night free to share the model with a group of fellow artists. Wystful

On the south wall of my studio is a collection of wysteria plants that I transplanted from the woods at the back of our property. Bare With Me

Three different nights a week, artists gather together to share the cost of a model for about two and a half hours. We all use this time to different purposes, some for studying certain aspects of the figure, others to work on anatomy and still others trying to create finished pieces (like this one). As I have said, I love puns so this title is yet another one. This is another in the "Painting a Day Series" and can be yours for $95.00 by emailing me first at greigsart@comcast.net . Life Is a Bowl of Raseberries

My nieghbor knocked on the door and handed this bowl of freshly picked raseberries to me. Not only did they look delicious they tasted every bit as good. While I am tempted to think that my life tends to be a bowl of lemons, and I am quite sure that it isn't a bowl of cherries, I am not sure what it means for it to be a bowl of raseberries. Behind the Eight Ball

Sometimes what is happening in your life ends up in your painting, but hopefully it is there with your humor intact. With this economy, life can be a financial struggle and one can end up here, "Behind the Eight Ball". It is not really that bad but it makes for a great image and a fun title. She Is Miles Away

As well as walking out into the garden, or pulling images from my memory, I regularly work from the model in local sketch groups. These groups are an excellent way to afford a model (necessary whenever you want to create figurative work). This is yet another in the "Painting a Day Series" and can be yours for the price of $95.00 by being the first to email me at greigsart@comcast.net. This title comes from the slightly altered perspective that makes her head and upper torso look so much further away than her arms and legs.

I Am Against Pasta

I'm sorry to admit that I am a big fan of puns. If you think about this image of antipasta the title will make sense to you, at least it does to me. My father loved a great pun, which was determined by the quality and length of the groan that followed the pun. How long did you groan? Simple and Sweet

I am a big fan of the work of Wayne Thiebaud and early on lifted many of his visual ideas (as well as subject matter) to create my work. I have move on from there but still create pieces like this one that bere homage to one of my favorites. This title comes from the simplicity of the composition and from the simple joy of eating such tasty bon-bons. This is another in the "Painting a Day Series" and is an orginal oilsticks painting. Portrait of an Artist as a Green Banana

Okay this is an obscure St. Patrick's Day reference. The title of this painting is a play on the title of James Joyce's book, "Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man". James Joyce is an Irish author, ergo this is an Irish painting. Or it was the green banana that makes it appropiate for the day. This is an original oilstick painting, it is on 100% rag paper, it fits in a 16"x20" matte with an 11"x14" opening.
It will be sold to the first emailer to greigsart@comcast.net for only $95.00.
